Advanced Wax-Working
Workshop Description
In this workshop you will learn many types of wax-working techniques to sculpt jewelry for lost-wax-casting. Jewelers wax can be sculpted into nearly any form you imagine, and then through the magic of lost-wax-casting it is transformed into the metal of your choice. You'll learn both subtractive and additive techniques in wax, including hot pen molding and built-up models, wax sheet and wire manipulation, as well as simple silicone mold-making to take textures and horms from existing objects. We'll also give lot's of time-saving tips for getting quickly from the raw block of wax to your intended final form using layout tools and saws and burs for quick and precise wax removal. Your final waxes will be cast offsite for you in whatever metal you prefer. The cost of casting and metal is not included in the class fee. This class meets over four sessions 10am-5pm with an hour lunch break each day. All classes in our studio require you to wear closed-toed shoes, and it is best to wear clothing that you won't mind getting dirty. Please bring your reading glasses if you need them.
Cancellation Policy
The "Pay in Person" option is only for cash payments at the time of your class. If you intend to pay with a card, please pay on the website at the time you book your class. If you have purchased a class or workshop and are unable to attend, the following policies are in place: CLASS CANCELLATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED 7 DAYS BEFORE THE CLASS OR WORKSHOP DATE, via email or phone call, to receive a credit for the amount of the class, minus a $15 cancellation fee. this credit must be used within 6 months of issue date or is no longer valid. Cancellations received between 7 and 4 days in advance of class will be refunded at 50% of the cost. Cancellation received within 3 days of the start of class will not be refunded or credited. If a class is cancelled or rescheduled by Acequia Jewelry Workshop, you will receive a full refund or class credit. this credit must be used within 6 months of issue date or is no longer valid. If you cannot attend a class or workshop due to a serious medical or family emergency, you are entitled to a full refund or credit, minus transaction fees, regardless of how close to the start of class we receive notification. PLEASE NOTIFY Acequia Jewelry Workshop AS SOON AS POSSIBLE before the start date/time of your class if such an emergency arises. If you do not attend your scheduled class or workshop and have not notified us via email or phone call before the start date/time of your class (due to a medical emergency or other cause) the full cost of the class is forfeited.
