Workshop Description
In this workshop you will learn wax-working techniques of various sorts to sculpt jewelry for lost-wax-casting. Inspiration for our designs will be taken directly from the natural world, both macro and micro! If you've ever wanted to recreate a tree bark texture, the shape of a mushroom's gills, the fractalated negative space left by tree branches overhead- this class is for you! Jewelry wax can be sculpted into nearly any form you imagine, and then through the magic of lost-wax-casting it is transformed into the metal of your choice. You'll learn subtractive and additive techniques in waxworking, as well as simple silicone mold-making to take textures directly from nature. The first three classes will be building skills and designs in wax. The final class is dedicated to taking the fresh castings in metal and finishing them with metalworking tools into a wearable piece of jewelry. You may set stones, add texture, solder on findings and add patina. In the end you leave with fully finished and ready to wear jewelry! Students may also choose to make non-wearable pieces if they prefer. This class meets over four Sundays in a row, Nov 22, 29, Dec 6, & 13 from 10am-5pm with an hour lunch break each day. Day one will include a short, easy hike- please wear comfortable shoes. All classes in our studio require you to wear closed-toed shoes, and it is best to wear clothing that you won't mind getting dirty. Please bring your reading glasses if you need them. Class price includes instruction and use of studio tools and supplies. Casting fees, metals and stones are charged according to individual use.

Cancellation Policy
The "Pay in Person" option is only for cash payments at the time of your class. If you intend to pay with a card, please pay on the website at the time you book your class. If you have purchased a class or workshop and are unable to attend, the following policies are in place: CLASS CANCELLATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED 7 DAYS BEFORE THE CLASS OR WORKSHOP DATE, via email or phone call, to receive a credit for the amount of the class, minus a $15 cancellation fee. this credit must be used within 6 months of issue date or is no longer valid. Cancellations received between 7 and 4 days in advance of class will be refunded at 50% of the cost. Cancellation received within 3 days of the start of class will not be refunded or credited. If a class is cancelled or rescheduled by Acequia Jewelry Workshop, you will receive a full refund or class credit. this credit must be used within 6 months of issue date or is no longer valid. If you cannot attend a class or workshop due to serious medical or family emergencies, you are entitled to a full refund or credit, regardless of how close to the start of class we receive notification. PLEASE NOTIFY Acequia Jewelry Workshop AS SOON AS POSSIBLE before the start date/time of your class if such an emergency arises. If you do not attend your scheduled class or workshop and have not notified us via email or phone call before the start date/time of your class (due to a medical emergency or other cause) the full cost of the class is forfeited.
